Tips for freelance business (part two)

1. Prepayment

Every freelancer at any stage learns a few lessons about the practice of billing clients. Virtually all freelancers strongly advised to seek at least part of the payment before starting work. From my experience, I can say that collecting money is not the main issue. Of course, good to get money in advance, but more importantly a strong impact on the client. By pre-payment, you provide to attract customers to the project and acknowledge the seriousness of his intention to cooperate with you. Nevertheless, you have to spend their time providing the necessary information to such clients, and they are really completely control the situation. Do yourself a favor and take a right to ask for part payment in advance.
2. It is extremely important careful consideration

Maintain cost accounting, revenue, and unpaid invoices are not too pleasant experience for most of us. However, without a scrupulous records, your business will be jeopardized. It is important not only for the tax, but you can lose in revenue. Without a good accounting, you can miss the opportunity to increase their earnings. Use software that will help you in this. Ideally, it will provide you all the necessary records, with minimal time on this activity.
3. Plan ahead for a rainy day

In terms of workload freelancers certainly have their ups and downs, quite simply, it is typical for this business. To achieve maximum success, you need to identify such situations and take from them as much as possible, even if there's a big workload. When working with a client is moving slowly, there are many other things that you can do to strengthen its business, including work on your website portfolio, creating blogs, the formation of the concerned network community, contact with former clients, engaging in their own projects, organizing their finances etc.
4. Put the emphasis on time management

When you are self-employed as a freelancer, time management and efficiency are highly significant factors in determining the size of possible earnings. If you are accustomed to working on large design studio, or if you have other experience prior to recruitment, time management, may never have been so keen for you, as was currently the case. Even if you work with a fixed rate, you may need the skills of time management in controlling stress or in order to keep the boss at a safe distance. However, if you are a freelancer, it is extremely important for your financial well-being.

The greatest thing you can do to improve the use of time - to understand what are you wasting your time and plan ahead to ensure progress in the intended direction. Suffice it difficult to improve and exactly to plan their days, if you do not know where to start.

For me, pre-planning tasks for the day and the week is the absolute importance. Without a basic list of works required to fulfill, I can easily walk away from the main occupation, taking up tasks that are of no importance. However, with a brief list of important cases that require performance, there is a greater likelihood that the end of each day, I conclude that something meaningful. Usually I compose a list of tasks for the next day at the end of the day, but on weekends I am considering a plan for next week.
5. Take on any job - not the best solution

Freelancers have the opportunity to choose the project that they want to do. Of course, the more you have the options to choose from, the easier you reject the "bad" job, but even for freelancers do not have many suggestions, there are moments when it is best not to take this or that proposal. Before you start working, make sure that the money earned will cover the time spent by you. Freelancers, newcomers often have to settle for less compensation than they would like, but this work can help you prepare your portfolio or start a business advisory.

If there are other suggestions that you would be able to do at this time, and that would be more profitable for your business, do not be afraid to abandon a project or even to seek a higher price. There is nothing worse than spending an inordinate amount of time and deal with work for the fulfillment of which you will receive a small payment. Even if you are not too loaded with work at the moment, there are other things that are not less important for your business that you can do, and that will be better employment of your time.

Here the factor payment is not the only determinant. We all know that with some clients work - just fun, and others - just a nightmare. If you have a bad feeling about your potential client, you may be more carefully set to work with him.
